How to easily adjust your belt?

Our belts are designed to be easily adjusted to your body type.

Follow the steps in this guide to achieve a precise and lasting fit.

Before you start

Required equipment

STEP 1 - Determine the correct custom length

  1. Put on your belt and tighten it to the desired size.

  2. Use a pencil to mark the spot corresponding to your ideal fit.

  3. Measure the distance between the line you just made and the center hole of the belt.

  4. Remove the chape and transfer this measurement to the other end of the belt on the buckle side, starting from the leather.

Workshop tip: when making the first cut, always remove slightly less material than necessary. This will allow you to refine the fit while maintaining a safety margin.

STEP 2 - ADJUST THE BELT

  1. Using a ruler and a utility knife, carefully cut the leather.

Workshop tip: make several light passes with the knife rather than one forced cut to preserve the sharpness of the leather. Carefully remove any protruding threads with a flame to achieve a clean finish.

  2. Use the removed leather scrap as a template by positioning it against the newly cut end and mark the location of the attachment hole.

3. Locate the pencil mark and punch a hole in the leather at that spot, using pliers or a point approximately 5mm in diameter.

4. Reinsert the chape with the buckle onto the belt and carefully tighten the screw.

5. Your custom-made belt is ready.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which side should the belt be cut from? Always from the buckle side.

Can I shorten my belt several times? Yes, as long as there is enough material left on the buckle side. Please note, however, that it will not be possible to lengthen the belt.

What tool should I use to punch the new hole? A hole puncher approximately 5 mm in diameter, or a screwdriver/drill bit/awl. If you are uncomfortable with this step, do not hesitate to contact a cobbler.

How can I avoid measurement errors? We recommend removing a little less material at first to maintain a margin for adjustment.

I already know the desired length for my belt, how do I proceed? If you already know the final desired length (for example 80 cm), measure this distance from the central adjustment hole to your desired point and proceed directly to the cutting step.
